I love kombucha. My kids think I’m nuts. It’s definitely one of those things that you either love or hate but, personally, I could drink it all day. That effervescent mix of sweet and sour…mmmmm. Yes, please.
I’ve also been aware of the health benefits of a bit of apple cider vinegar for many years. The problem is, I can’t get it down! It’s just. too. much.
So, how have I managed to appease my kombucha craving when I don’t have a scoby lying around AND simultaneously get that crazy strong ACV down? Well, by throwing together this super simple little recipe. I like to drink it first thing in the morning instead of another cup of coffee that seems to always be calling my name.
Now, I should mention that apple cider vinegar is very acidic and should be consumed in moderation. I don’t drink more than a tablespoon a day. Also, look for organic, raw ACV with “the mother” for its full benefits. Secondly, since I add essential oil to this recipe, please, only use a quality 100% pure oil that is safe for ingestion. I personally only trust my doTERRA oils for that.
What You’ll Need
- 8 oz. room temperature lemon flavored sparkling water (plain water can be used but won’t give you that extra fizzy punch)
- 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar (raw, with “the mother”)
- 1-2 Teaspoons of raw honey (to taste)
- 1 drop Lemon Essential Oil (make sure it is safe for ingestion!)
Here We Go…
Begin by pouring the sparkling water into a glass. Since you will be adding a citrus essential oil as well be sure you only use a glass container.
Next, add the 1 Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. You may want to begin with 1/2 tablespoon and work your way up to 1 full tablespoon depending on how much you can tolerate the taste.
Add the honey. Start with a teaspoon and adjust to taste. Honestly, I just give it a good squirt. I don’t really measure.
Now, just add 1 drop of the Lemon Essential Oil and stir it all up. It will get all bubbly and delicious. Yum!
